JobScore has helped employers zero in on qualified candidates since our public launch in 2008. To help combat the rising tide of resume spam we rebuilt and modernized our candidate scoring system. Here’s what’s new:
Everything is now shown on a 0-100 point scale instead of a 0-10 point scale:
To make scores easier to understand and more trustworthy, JobScore now distinguishes between whether there’s NO DATA (gray) or if there is data but there’s NO MATCH (red) for specific criteria:
We’ve updated how scores appear in lists so you can understand what’s happening at a glance and take action:

A gray circle with a horizontal line signals that a job has no scoring criteria.
Click to add scoring criteria to the job.

A gray circle with a diagonal line signals that the candidate has no data that can be used to calculate a score.
Add a resume, invite the candidate to apply for the job, or send them a candidate form to generate a score.

Colors signal what’s happening:
- GREEN: matches a scoring criteria
- BLUE: partially matches a scoring criteria
- RED: doesn’t match a scoring criteria

GRAY in a circle signals that data is missing for at least 1 criteria.
Adjust your job application form or candidate form to require candidates to provide the information you need to calculate scores.
When you click on a score, JobScore shows how it was calculated:
Scoring criteria are editable for each job:
Not sure how to get started with scoring criteria? Click the generate criteria link and JobScore will populate some for you based on your job title and job description:
There is no “black box” or hallucination-prone machine learning AI used to calculate candidate scores – they directly reflect the criteria you add and the importance you set.
If you don’t like the results, just edit the criteria and adjust their importance.
JobScore keeps track of when you adjust scoring criteria in “Edit Job” events in the history. This will come in handy if you need to reproduce exactly how a candidate was scored for a specific job at a specific time in an audit.
If you are still concerned that candidate scores create compliance risk or will be abused by your team, you can turn off candidate scoring in your account on this page.
We hope these changes make candidate scores easier to use and trust. Please let us know if you see opportunities to make candidate scoring even better.
Candidate scoring will be gradually re-launched throughout June of 2025. If you’d like to be among the first to use the new scoring system, please email support@jobscore.com.
